Look at what happens when you get a group of sewers together, all stitching with a common cause. Nikki from You Sew, Girl organized a sewing bee to make bags for the Rainbow Comfort Packs project. In one day, they made… well, I’m not gonna tell you. You’ll have to read her blog post to find out because her accompanying pictures say so much more than just the numbers.

Have you ever thought about getting involved in charity and doing something fabulous to help someone else? But what can you do- what do you have to offer?

You can Sew!

Project Linus is a fantastic organization that distributes hand-made blankets to kids who are really ill, traumatized or otherwise in need. They have lots of pattern ideas on their site as well as all the info you need to get your creation into the little hands of someone who would love it.

Since they started in 1995, they have distributed over two million blankets to children in need.

Now, that’s a lot of sewing talent put to good use!

Maker Faire fun!

This weekend 5/3 AND 5/4 is the super fun Maker Faire in San Mateo, CA. Chock full of crafty, DIY goodness, some of this years highlights will be a workshop on how to make your own shoes, the fantastic sewing extravaganza Swap-o-Rama Rama and Kristen Rask of Plush You! (that coincidentally I just wrote about yesterday!) will be signing her fabulous book on Saturday at 3:00pm.
