I’m sorry to say that our giveaway for the Wearable Skirt online class has been cancelled.  This was not my decision – the folks at Rick Rack: Thread Therapy for Sewers cancelled the class due to low registration.

I wish I could give your more detail, but this was all the information I was given.

Rick Rack: Thread Therapy for Sewers has a new class out, and the teacher is none other than Jennifer Stern.  She’ll be teaching the Wearable Skirt w/ 3 Ways to Embellishing online sewing course.

Skirts are such versatile elements of a wardrobe!  They can be dressed up or down.  They’re cool in the hot summer temps, but  can be easily layered over tights and leggings when the weather turns colder.  And to top it off – they’re excellent canvases for embellishment.

In this class, Jennifer Stern covers how to make her Wearable Skirt, along with how to use applique, free motion embroidery, and ribbon to embellish it.  The class covers:

  • – How to cut out the Wearable Skirt on the bias
  • – How to construct the Wearable Skirt
  • – How to adjust the side seams and Part I invisible zip
  • – How to insert an invisible zipper into the side seam of the Wearable Skirt
  • – How to finish the waistline of the Wearable Skirt with a custom facing
  • – How to applique
  • – How to free motion sew
  • – How to embellish with ribbon

For the $49 registration fee ($59 for international students), you get:

  • – 1 Wearable Skirt pattern (to be mailed)
  • – 1 The Wearable Skirt & 3 Ways to Embellish how to sew video demonstration;
  • – 1 downloadable Project Instruction Sheet w/step-by-step color photos (PDF);
  • – Fabric.com 15% discount off entire order (no minimum);
  • – Supply list; and
  • – Three – 1 hour live chats with Jennifer Stern

Go to Rick Rack: Thread Therapy for Sewers to read more about the course and watch a video preview.

The Giveaway

Rick Rack is giving away a free registration to this course to one lucky Craft Gossip reader.  Yay!!!  To enter the giveaway, leave a comment here telling me where you would wear the skirt you make.  I’ll choose one comment at random as the winner.

Deadline is midnight CST on Monday, September 19, 2011.
