Post and giveaway sponsored by Pennington Vertical Gardens, but all opinions are my own. Please see below for additional disclosure.
The winner of this giveaway is commenter #84, Emily C! She says, “I have morning glories, coleus and alyssums.” See the full winner announcement.
I usually blog about sewing stuff, but I’m going to take a little detour into the home & garden realm for this post. Be sure to read all the way to the bottom, because I’ve got a giveaway to announce!
My yard is not garden friendly. It’s mostly shade trees, which are great to keep the hot summer sun off of us, but they don’t provide many sunny patches for growing flowers. Add to that the fact that the ground is hard packed slatey dirt. We use a pick when we have to dig large holes! And if that’s not enough, we have a child who likes to play outdoors – on a trampoline, in her club house, and on her swing set. The backyard is more a playspace than a relaxing enjoy-the-view space.
So while it’s a good sized yard, my gardening space is very limited. I need to maximize the few pretty places in my yard. A Pennington Vertical Garden is going to help me accomplish that.
This is my front porch and the also the future site of my Pennington Vertical Garden. As I write this, my husband is installing it on the wall between the two chairs. The bland brick space above the small table will soon be filled with plants and bursting with fall colors. Like most of my yard, the porch is shaded. But with the different sizes and shapes of containers that go on the Pennington Vertical Garden, I can fill the space with a mix of colorful foliage and potted plants that are already blooming. And because it uses wall space rather than ground space, I don’t have to sacrifice any of the porch space devoted to the small seating area.
Pennington Vertical Garden systems are completely customizable with each component sold separately. It’s a system that can grow with you, and change as your style and gardening needs evolve. I tend to overthink design decisions, so the idea of being able to reconfigure my containers is appealing to me.
How pretty would that be on that brick wall on my porch?
The Pennington Vertical Gardening System allows any gardener – novice or experienced – living in the sprawling suburbs or the crowded city to turn even the most lackluster of spaces (like my porch) into a colorful, blooming garden.
So watch this space to see what I can do to that boring, blank wall with Pennington Vertical Gardening products!
