When I saw this skirt by Gina Sekelsky at Lettergirl and Rich Inner Life, I let out a little squeal. As an entry into a contest for Alabama Chanin-inspired sewing projects, she incorporates Alabama Chanin’s distinctive reverse applique and handstitching. Instead of a flower or swirly design for the applique, she adds an entire quotation to the skirt. The letters become a design element while at the same time making a meaningful statment. See more photos of her fabulous project over at Rich Inner Life.
