There is little that is more frustrating than spending hours creating a garment only to realize at the end that you cut the garment out on the wrong size from the pattern.  Suzannah from Adventures in Dressmaking dedicates a post on her blog to explaining how she gets an accurate size when she uses a printed pattern.  A little planning before cutting your pattern will save many a tear from being shed after your project is completed.  Go to the article.
