The Fashionable Pup

May 3, 2008 |

As a sewing instructor, one of the requests I get most often from my students is to learn to make dog clothes! And as someone who is an obsessed puppy mom (to the dreamy Carlotta, my Maltese) pet clothing is one of my favorite sewing projects!

Most of the major pattern companies out there have pet patterns. But I have found that one in particular is easy enough for beginners and produces such cutie results.

McCall’s Patterns number M4686 doesn’t really look like much on the package but with a little flare, you can create something adorable.

My student Jennifer created the tee for her puppy Angel (pictured) using the “vest” pattern. It really was fairly simple and even as a beginner; she made it in less than 2 hours.

So now your pooch can be fashionable too.
