Marcus Brothers shares a free pattern for making this 8-pointed pincushion, designed by Ellen Highsmith Silver.  It’s a reproduction of a civil-war era style pincushion.  The example is shown in civil-war reproduction fabrics, but I can also see it looking fabulous out of bright, modern fabrics.   Get the PDF.
