This darling pincushion was made using a small empty can as a base.  Laupre shows you how you can make one for yourself in her Tun Can Pincusion Tutorial.  You’re not limited to tuna cans, though.  Cat food cans tend to be about the same size.  Or, for something with more novelty appeal, she shows a picture of a pincusion in a spam can.
