Cashmerette Calder Pants and Shorts Sewing Pattern

March 25, 2023 by Shellie Wilson

As someone who has been sewing for a few years now, I was drawn to the Cashmerette Calder Pants & Shorts pattern for its stylish and versatile design. The fact that it comes in two different fits (apple and pear) is a great bonus, as it makes it much easier to find the perfect fit for my body shape. I also love the option of making either pants or shorts, so I can wear these all year round.

I appreciate that this pattern is labeled as “advanced beginner”, which means I can attempt it even though I’m not an expert seamstress. I feel confident that I’ll be able to make a beautiful pair of pants or shorts using this pattern, and I’m excited to choose one of the lovely patterned rayons or Lyocell twills suggested in the description.

The sizing range of 12 to 32 is a great feature, and I love that I can use the Cashmerette Sizing Calculator to determine my size. The fact that the pattern comes with in-seam pockets is a huge plus for me, as I find pockets to be an essential feature in any piece of clothing.

Overall, I think the Cashmerette Calder Pants & Shorts pattern is an excellent choice for anyone who wants to create stylish and versatile pants or shorts. I can’t wait to get started on my new make!

Monday Musings: My Fabric Stash is Judging Me (A Love-Hate Relationship)

I have a problem. Well, several problems, but today we’re talking about the 37 yards of fabric currently taking up residence in my closet. Some of it’s been there so long it could legally vote. That beautiful linen? Bought for a specific project in 2018. The designer wool? “Too nice to cut.” The rainbow of quilting cotton? Well, it was on sale.

Every time I open that closet, I swear the fabric whispers, “Remember when you were going to make that dress?” The guilt is real. But so is the joy of petting my hoard like a fabric dragon sitting on her treasure.

Last week I tried the KonMari method. I got as far as “does this spark joy?” before buying three more yards of floral voile. Some habits die hard.
