Free pattern: 1950s butterfly evening bag
Etsy seller Cynical Girl shares a free pattern at Vintage Pattern Marketplace for this butterfly evening bag. It’s a vintage patter, originally published in the 1950s (1955 in Workbasket, to be exact). It’s shaped like a butterfly, with embroidery and bead trim. With the short strap, it looks to be a wristlet style purse. The pattern is made to use felt, but Vintage Pattern Marketplace suggests using fleece as well. I have one more recommendation to add. How about vinyl? This bag would be so rad made out of a vinyl, with felt and sequins for trim. Follow the link below to download the pattern:

I like the vinyl idea! It would look good in leather or ultrasuede, too, maybe trimmed with appliques. Thanks for featuring this!
Love the vinyl suggestion for this bag! Thanks for the feature.
Wool maybe? It is adorable.
Really cute pattern, and it’s free! Thank you for posting this.
Super size it and you have a great back to school book bag! Thanks!
Felt for me, can’t wait to try this one! Love the free patterns from the Pattern Patter blog!
