An from StraightGrain shares a free pattern at Sew, Mama, Sew! for this pleated bodice sundress for little girls. She calls it the Saudade Sundress, named after the Portuguese word for “feelings of nostalgia and melancholia, of longing for a person, place or time that has passed. Like the Summer days in which dresses like these can be worn…” (source) The pleats on the bodice are stitched down in different directions at the top and the bottom, creating direction and dimension. Her free pattern comes in girls’ sizes 1-10. Go to Sew, Mama, Sew! to download the pattern and see how to sew it up.
