From my studio last week: May 9, 2011

May 9, 2011 by Anne Weaver

So I  never wrote a studio recap for last week.  Whoops!  Actually, I didn’t have that much to report so there’s really nothing lost.  In addition to my blogging gig here at Craft Gossip, I also teach an online writing class through our local university.  It’s end of semester busy time.  Just one more week and my summer break will be here! Woot!!

In spite of the crazy busy-ness that end of semester brings, I did get a little bit of sewing done this past week.  I made another Slouchy Top, this time for my daughter.  It’s made from the same orange and white striped jersey that I used to make one for myself a few weeks ago.  She’s soooo happy to have a matching mother-daughter outfit!!   (Sorry… no pic of her wearing it yet.)

And while I made the shirt, I took photos along the way so I can write up a tutorial.  I’m trying to block some time tomorrow morning to write it up, but don’t hold me to it.

Also made last week is this scoopneck raglan tee.  The neckline overlaps in the front, creating a faux shrug look.  I call it the Shruggy Shirt.   The neckline is inspired by a similar neckline on a favorite thrifted sweater.  This was actually just a test so I used a couple of old tees – one for the body of the shirt, and one for the binding.  I plan on making several more just as soon as I can get school stuff out of the way.  The one change I think I’ll make is to have the shruggy part come down a tad more in the front.

So that’s it for my studio recap for the week.  What have you been working on this past week?

I love the scoopneck raglan teeshirt, and if you have time when the semester is over to make a tutorial for it, I would greatly appreciate it! Also look forward to the tutorial on the slouchy top! Thanks!!! Maybe I’ll have time to work on projects soon too! 😉
