From now until April 2, 2011, Bramcost Publications is offering a free downloadable pattern for a 1950’s flower petal hat and matching purse. While I don’t see myself ever being able to pull of the hat, the purse could definitely work with today’s styles. It would make an elegant evening bag out of the taffeta recommended in the pattern, or it could have a more casual scrappy look if the petals were all made from different printed cottons. Doubt I could pull it off, put it would be a great pattern to have if you do any costumes such as when I was in 5th grade we did a production of Wizard of Oz and all of us munchkins wore flowered hats.
Or for a tinkerbell or fairy.
