Kids Explorer Vest With Lots of Pockets – Free Sewing Pattern

November 9, 2020 by Anne Weaver

Kids Explorer Vest With Lots of Pockets - Free Sewing Pattern

This Little Explorer’s Vest has all the pockets a kid need to hold the treasures they find out in nature!  Emily at Life Sew Savory has a free sewing pattern you can use to make one.  I remember when my daughter was little, every trip to the park or walk around the block ended up with my pockets filled with rocks or leaves or other treasures she had found.  How much more fun (and easier for parents!) for kids to have all the pockets they need to carry their treasures home themselves! This vest is made even more fun by all the different kinds of pockets, including a clear vinyl pocket,  a mesh pocket, a flap pocket, and more!  Go to Life Sew Savory for the free pattern and tutorial.

Monday Musings: My Fabric Stash is Judging Me (A Love-Hate Relationship)

I have a problem. Well, several problems, but today we’re talking about the 37 yards of fabric currently taking up residence in my closet. Some of it’s been there so long it could legally vote. That beautiful linen? Bought for a specific project in 2018. The designer wool? “Too nice to cut.” The rainbow of quilting cotton? Well, it was on sale.

Every time I open that closet, I swear the fabric whispers, “Remember when you were going to make that dress?” The guilt is real. But so is the joy of petting my hoard like a fabric dragon sitting on her treasure.

Last week I tried the KonMari method. I got as far as “does this spark joy?” before buying three more yards of floral voile. Some habits die hard.
