LA fabric district shopping trip with family

May 2, 2018 by Anne Weaver

LA fabric district shopping trip with familyI try not to bring my family fabric shopping with me.  They generally appreciate that.  So when we are traveling and I spy a fabric shop, I generally just pass it up.  Justine from Sew Country Chick tells how she incorporated fabric shopping in the LA fabric district with a day trip with her kids into the city.  By balancing the time she spent in the fabric stores with treats and activities more focused on the kids, she was able to keep everyone happy.  She has specific tips about places to go in the LA fabric district, super helpful if you’re planning a trip there any time soon.  But even if LA is not on your travel schedule, read her post anyway to see how she balanced everyone’s wishes.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
