I always feel a little tingle down my spine when I see that Kataryna Borders from Sew Chibi has made a dress for one of her daughters. I love her brain! That girl is mad with the awesome details, the little extras that make a dress magical for a child!
So of course I was expecting awesomeness when I saw that she had made a birthday dress for her 2 year old. Even so, I was completely blown away with this one. See that blue spot? At first glance I thought it was an applique or a giant circle pocket. But no. It’s a glitter gel playmat. As in two layers of plastic with gel (and glitter) in between, a toy built in to the front of her daughter’s dress. WOW. Go to her blog post for the Behind the Seams details about this dress, including how she managed to stitch the gel playmat into the dress. Looking for more sewing patterns for Girls’ summer dresses?
