Mother’s Day Sewing Projects

April 27, 2008 by candi canncel

Ah the yearly dilemma- what to get your Mom for Mother’s Day? Nothing says that you love her more than special homemade gifts. But how to find the time with your busy schedule to create something sweet that she’ll adore. These fun projects are unique, easy and take almost no time at all to create:

These elegant flanged pillows are created using placemats.

I just love cute little cloth napkins. This project is so darling and eco-friendly. The perfect addition to any table setting.

How about a quaint quilted message board? Attach photos of yourself for a personalized touch.

This hip make-up bag is the perfect sewing project for beginners. And what mom wouldn’t love a snazzy new make-up bag? Especially if you made it!

these are very cute! i would need to make them a bit larger though. They would be a great gift idea as well and a nice accompaniment to my china pattern that is green and pink and white. thanks for the idea!

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
