You can use pre-quilted fabric to make mug rugs and fabric coasters super quick and super easy. Jamie from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom has a tutorial showing how. The extra layers of the pre-quilted fabric help make them more absorbent, and with the quilting already done for you you get the look of quilting without having the stitch all those lines across your fabric. They don’t take large pieces of fabric, so if you have some scraps of pre-quilted fabric left over from other projects this would be a great way to use them up.
