Spices or potpourri tucked between the layers of the mug mat will make a nice scent when you place a warm mug on it. Patti from Hearth & Vine shows how you can make them. You can sew them up quickly using charm squares. (Or, raid your scrap stash and cut a bunch of 5″ squares to use!)
