Living in Los Angeles, you get exposure to a lot of Mexican culture. There is a really cool old part of downtown called Olvera Street. Ripe with delicious Mexican restaurants and kitschy souvenir shops, this is the closest you can get to Oaxaca without crossing the border.
One of my favorite things to explore when I’m there (besides the Margaritas of course) is the traditional Mexican folk clothing. As a fan of embroidery, I get to see so much beautiful stitching on so many unique garments. I always want to buy something!
But now, I can make my very own traditional Mexican dress.
