While I often use thrifted home dec items, such as tablecloths or sheets, as a source of inexpensive yardage, the price of new home dec items often holds me back from using them as fabric. But Karen from Sew Many Ways breaks it down and compares the price per yard of a purchased, new tablecloth with the price of regular priced decorator fabric from the fabric store. She made good use of this one large piece of fabric, creating four throw pillow covers, with enough scrap left over to make a table runner, napkins, or placemats for her dining table. Her post includes a tutorial showing how to make the pillow covers. Go to Sew Many Ways for her tutorial and the breakdown of the cost per yard of her tablecloth fabric.
