January 13, by Anne Weaver. 2 Comments

Tutorial and pattern: Adorable corgi dog softieQuigley the Corgi is the cutest little dog softie!  How can you not love him when he’s got those sweet ears and of course the heart in his hands?  Jenny from Fluffmonger has a free pattern and tutorial to share with you!  She dyed the fleece to get the perfect shades of brown and cream to make the one you see here.  If you want to use the same fabrics she used to make her corgi softie, she’s got some kits available for sale in her shop.

I love the corgi dog and was going to make them for my twin nieces for valentines day. but I can not print it. I don’t know if it is something at your end. I’ve double checked everything on my end. I would love it if you could check to see if someone can print here in the U.S. Thanks so much!

Book Review: Knitted Christmas Stockings

There’s something special about a Christmas stocking.  I used the same stocking throughout my childhood, and when my daughter was born I made her a stocking that she has used every year.

If you enjoy knitting, you can use your knitting skills to create heirloom Christmas stockings for the people in your life.  Knitted Christmas Stockings: 25 Festive Designs to Make for Family and Friends by Emilee Reynolds shows how you can knit the cutest, coziest Christmas stockings.

The book includes designs for every personality and design style – from modern geometric designs to festive Christmas elves and gnomes, to Nativity characters and more traditional designs such as angels, hearts, snowflakes, and samplers.  There are enough of each type of design that you can make a coordinating set of stockings for your whole family.

Each of the 25 designs includes full color photos, step-by-step instructions and a color chart.  An alphabet chart at the back allows you to customize your stocking with names.  And for those new to knitting – or just needing a refresher – there’s a section at the back showing how to make the stitches.

All stockings in this book are knit top down and include a turned heel and a short ribbed cuff.  Color work designs are easy to follow using the included charts with each design.  All stockings in this book are similar in size which makes it easy to mix and match to make a customized set.

Whether you’re looking to make stockings to be used year in and year out, or just want to create a fun accent for your Christmas décor, Knitted Christmas Stockings has the designs for you.  Grab some yarn and some basic knitting supplies, and knit up some festive Christmas stockings.  A perfect project to knit up while watching your favorite Christmas movies on the couch!
