Abby from Things for Boys shows how to sew a basic lapped seam. In this seam, one edge is lapped slightly over the other and stitched down. There are no bulky seam allowances, making this a useful seam when sewing together two thicker fabrics. Just make sure they’re fabrics that don’t fray (such as felt or leather) because the edge on top will show. Go to her tutorial to see how to do it.
