Sew4Home shows how you can make this boxy canvas tote with jeans styling.  They use jeans rivets and buttonholes on pocket flaps and to attach the straps.  Even the shape of the pocket flaps is reminiscent of jeans.  They use a brightly colored canvas for the fabric, but it would also be cute made out of denim, or maybe even recycled denim from old jeans.
