Heather from Feather’s Flights shows how you can refashion an adult’s or older child’s cardigan into a cute cardigan onesie for a baby. She includes a free pattern that you can use to make one in a 0-3 month size. If you need a larger size, you can make your own pattern by cutting apart a onesie that fits (perhaps one that’s gotten stained so it’s no longer worn) or by using a purchased pattern. Go to Feather’s Flights to see how to make it.

Sewing your own baby clothes is very satisfying. It’s one of the precious times when we as parents get to choose what our children wear without complaint. Dressing your baby in unique handmade clothing makes for wonderful photos and keepsakes too. As children get older they can select their own fabrics and become part of the sewing process.
