I have a pretty mighty button stash, but mostly my stash buttons are white. That’s fine for some projects, but I never seem to have as any colored buttons as I’d like. Turns out, your white buttons don’t have to stay white. Jill from Fiberluscious shows how you can dye your buttons. Boom! Now you can have buttons in allll the colors! There seems to be a lot of variability in how much dye the buttons will take, if any, depending on the material the button is made from. But if you’re okay with some unpredictability, this looks to be a fun way to add some color to your button stash. (No word on whether these are laundry safe, so I’d stick with using them for projects that won’t be washed.)

I dyed some plastic buttons with RIT dye a few years ago, and they’ve held up through the wash fantastically well… better than the dress I sewed them on!
