Disney from Ruffles and Stuff is over at A Subtle Revelry showing this colorful dyed doily she made. She collected doilies in various sizes and shapes, and then used fabric dye to make them in shades of pink, orange, red, and purple before stitching them to the edges of a tablecloth. I think it would also be beautiful with a linen-y tablecloth and undyed doilies in shades of white and cream. Go to A Subtle Revelry to see how to make one.

this is just awesome! i just got my sewing machine out after about a 20 yr hiatus and am looking for interesting projects to renew my skills. i crochet so the doilies appeal to me. the combination of the two is inspired!

That’s a wonderful idea for my curtains too! I really appreciate all the help that I can get for ideas on this big project that I will soon tackle. I like the connections of doily to doily as I need to be able to see out. At the same time, the doilys will make it harder to see inside. Which reminds me… I need to remember to get large glow-in-the-dark window decals to discourage the bear from charging thru when I clean the glass door(s)! Yee GYADS! I would love it if he would move on! I hear the neighbors’ dogs barking all over the area but no gun fire as of late. Thanks again for the wonderful idea! I will look for doilys as I DON’T mind doing some cheating on making the project! Hugs!
