When I make a bag, boxed bottoms are a must for me. Usually I open out the corner and line up the side seams before sewing a straight line across. It works but you have to be careful that your seams are lined up perfectly, otherwise you’re boxed bottom will be off kilter. Once Upon a Sewing Machine shows an easier method for boxing a bag bottom. It’s just one extra step before sewing the side seams and BOOM – instant boxed bottom!
