Tutorial: Elastic thread shirring
Elastic thread shirring is an easy way to add stretchy gathers to a garment. Use it for a waistband, a bodice, a neckline, or wrist cuffs. Rows of stitching with elastic thread in the bobbin creates the stretchy gathers. Modkid shares a tutorial showing how to do it. This technique works best with lightweight fabrics.
