Tutorial: Faemer’s market tote from an inexpensive rug

Jill from Snugglebug University guest blogs at Make It and Love It with a tutorial showing how you can make a large farmer’s market tote out of an inexpensive woven rug. She got her rug from IKEA but you can sometimes find these rugs at discount stores, too.  Just a few simple seams is all it takes to transform it into a roomy and sturdy tote.  She includes the template to make an embroidered farmer’s market label.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!
