Sewing Tutorial: Faux leather Fall leaves tablerunner

September 17, 2010 by Anne Weaver

Fall-themed crafts are always a popular choice, and faux leather leaves offer a refreshing twist on the traditional autumn decorations. While leaves made from paper or fabric are common, using faux leather adds a unique texture and durability that sets this project apart. At Second Street walks you through the steps of creating these stunning faux leather leaves, which can be used for a wide variety of purposes—from wreaths and garlands to table settings or even as a beautiful touch for DIY jewelry.

The tutorial is simple and easy to follow, making it an excellent choice for crafters of all skill levels. The materials needed are basic and easy to find, making this project both affordable and accessible. Faux leather is widely available in craft stores, and it comes in a variety of colors, so you can choose one that complements your seasonal color scheme or create an eye-catching display of mixed hues.

Get the how-to.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
