Tutorial: Folded Fabric Balls

July 19, 2014 by Anne Weaver

Tutorial: Folded fabric globes

Tutorial: Folded fabric globes

Ama from Ohoh Blog shares a tutorial at DIY Ready showing how to make these folded fabric globes.  They’re made from scraps of fabric and inexpensive styrofoam balls.  Use the colors and patterns on your scraps to make neat designs.  Group them in a bowl for a lovely handmade centerpiece.  Or, add a hanging loop and they would make gorgeous Christmas tree ornaments.  Get the how-to at DIY Ready.

I never imagined that a short vacation to Japan would shift my entire perspective on crafts. I had always considered myself a “diy-er” before my visit, but I had never truly taken the time to appreciate the finer intricacies of handcrafted things. That all changed when a local merchant gave me a traditional origami fabric craft.

Since returning from Japan, I’ve been progressively collecting various fabric crafts and learning everything I can about this wonderful art form. I am now more aware of the work and effort that goes into each item, and I am slowly but steadily becoming a master of this trade myself.

Wish I could find the instructions. I clicked the click (tried several times) and each time get a blank page with advertisements running across the top.

I’ve just double checked the link, and I’m able to load the page with the instructions. It does have some advertisements at the top, though underneath are the instructions. I’m not sure why you’re getting a blank page. –Anne
