Tutorial: Hemming stretchy fabrics
Sewing on knits is easy. Hemming knits, on the other hand, can be frustrating. The stretchy fabric tends to become wavy when it’s stitched, especially if your hem is going across the stretchiest part of the fabric. In order to achieve a smooth hem, you’ll need to adjust the stitch settings and needle on your machine. Pam from Threading My Way did some experimenting to see what stitch and needle combo worked best when hemming a super stretchy fabric. She’s written up her results in a blog post.
