Tutorial: How to make a lettuce edge on your serger

A lettuce edge takes the tendency of a knit fabric to stretch when hemmed and turns it into a feature.  It stretches and distorts the edge on purpose to make a pretty ruffled effect, much like the curly edges on a piece of lettuce.  Liesl Gibson from Oliver + S shows how you can make a lettuce edge hem using your serger.  If you don’t have a serger, she also links to a tutorial telling how to make one on your sewing machine.
