Sew4Home shows how you can sew up a set of placemats out of a Jelly Roll (precut fabrics). The stripes are pieced from a jelly roll of fabric (or you could just cut your fabric yardage into strips), and the edges finished off with bias tape. They’re quilted together with decorative stitches.
