Mandy from Sugar Bee Crafts shares a free pattern for making a knotted fabric headband like this one.  It has a bit of elastic sewn into the bottom so you can get a good fit without having to retie the knot each time you wear it.  She made some for her girls, but ended up stealing one for herself.  Her free pattern is one size fits all, from adult to child, because you can tie the knot to fit your head.
