This sewing machine mat will help keep your sewing tools close at hand.  The mat has a non-slip Amy from Friends Stitched Together shares a tutorial at So Sew Easy showing how to make one.  The mat has a non-slip backing to keep it from sliding around (and possibly taking your machine with it).  Pockets on the top of the mat will hold a seam ripper and other small notions.  And hanging from the side is a little thread catcher pocket.  She shows how you can cut all the pieces to get it all from a 1/2 yard of fabric.
