Ashley from Make It and Love It couldn’t find a car seat with a design that she liked, so she bought one with ugly fabric and recovered it. What she ended up with looks like it stepped straight out of the most expensive baby boutique in town. She shares a tutorial on her blog showing how she did it. Get the tute.

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!
It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.
Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
i think this is super cute! The only downside, is that anything added to a car seat after manufacturing can sometimes void the warranty. I would make sure before I made this 🙂
I have to agree with Brandi’s post as far as the downside. I am a vehicle passenger safety technician and I will tell you that anything that is used in a car seat that doesn’t come with the seat will void the warranty. The cover is cute, but I would highly recommend not to use it as the safety of the baby is compromised.
