Tutorial: Refashion a sweater into an Emma Pillsbury-inspired cardigan

July 25, 2010 by Anne Weaver

Toni from Make It Perfect guest blogs over at U Create with a tutorial showing how to refashion a sweater into a cardigan a la Emma Pillsbury from Glee.  She even includes a quick how-to for making Emma’s signature cardigan clips.  Using a vintage sheet (or vintage yardage) for the sweater trim and the pockets gives it a chic, retro feel.  Go to the tutorial.

Vintage sheets are very popular for re-styling or recycling of fabric and a great way to use these fun and bold prints rather than just storing grannies old bedsheets in the cupboard.  You can see more articles using vintage sheets here.   Don’t have any vintage bed sheets of your own? Check these out on Etsy.

Easy Cosmetics Bag Sewing Pattern

The bag is simple, uses very little fabric (about 2/3rds of a fat quarter), has no fussy inside pockets (although you can add your own if you like), and takes me well less than 30 minutes to print the pattern, cut out and sew. But quick and simple doesn’t mean it’s not awesome!

It’s the sort of bag that is versatile enough to be used for lots of applications, not just cosmetics and toiletries. Keep all your pens and pencils in order, use it for a small first aid kit for the car, keep it in your desk at work for a few headache pills and other personal supplies.

Make some for yourself, for gifts or to sell.
