Like most sewists, I have a scrap bin. But then I have another scrap bin that’s just for my tiny scraps. These are generally too small for most projects but they’re fabric and pretty and so I hold on to them. Last year I started making these quilted scrap fabric coasters as a way to use up those smaller scraps. I’ve got a tutorial over on my personal blog, Orange Bettie, showing how you can make some. They’re so much fun to make – and fun to give as gifts. They’re lined with old towel fabric rather than batting because the toweling makes them absorbent for sweaty glasses.
