Tutorial: Seam allowance direction does matter

Tutorial: Seam allowance direction does matter

Seam allowances might just seem like they’re just hanging out there on the inside of your garment, but the direction you press them really does matter. Pam from Off the Cuff Sewing Style demonstrates with a gathered sleeve cap.  With the seam allowances pressed one direction, you’ve got puff sleeves.  But press the seam allowances the other, and you get soft folds pleats at the top of your sleeve.
