Sewing a button on a coat (or other item made from a thick fabric) is different than sewing oa button on a shirt. A shirt button gets sewn down flush with the shirt, while a coat button needs to have some space between the button and the coat to accommodate the thick fabric. Sarah from Our Daily Craft (and our Knitting editor here at Craft Gossip) shows how to sew a button on a coat to create that space but also so it stays put, because buttons do no good on coats if they’re falling off.
