Tutorial: Steampunk bridesmaid dress

June 9, by Anne Weaver. 1 Comment

Jacki O. from Nobody Knows What A Red-Heading Mommy Can Do stepped up to the challenge when she was asked to be a bridesmaid in a steampunk wedding.  She made her whole outfit – the petticoat, the peasant top, the corset, even the mini hat and accessories!  AND she documented the whole process in a 3-part tutorial.  Part 1 shows how she made the muslins for the cosert and petticoat, using garments that fit as a sizing guide and reshaping them to fit the style she wanted.  Part 2 shows how she sewed the garments together.  Part 3 shows how she added the finishing touches and made the mini hat.

Thank you so much for picking my work as gossip–I am so truly honored! So much work went into this outfit and it is so rewarding to be able to share it with other crafters and sewers who appreciate the pricked fingers and ripping of seams 🙂 I absolutely love your site and I am so excited to be among the inspiring, talented, gossip-worthy folks here!
