Tutorial: Taking in the waist on a pair of jeans

January 11, 2009 by Anne Weaver

***Editor’s note*** The link posted in this article is no longer active.  You can find a similar tutorial at eHow: How to Take in the Waist on a Pair of Blue Jeans

I was a happy girl today when I found a tutorial by The Secret Pocket that shows how to pinch in the waistband of a pair of jeans.  I’ve been “blessed” with an ample rear-end paired with a small waist, which generally means my jeans gape at the back of the waistband.  If you’ve received this same “blessing” from the universe, then go check out this tutorial.

Sorry to inform you, but I clicked both links and they lead to a dead website. There is no such place.

How odd! I suppose that the blog has been removed sometime in the last few months. I’ve found a similar tutorial and have updated my article on Craft Gossip with the new link. Thank you for bringing the broken link to my attention!

The original how-to instructions for this were much better than the current one. I don’t want pocket pucker with the darts as recommended. The original way was much easier and worked like a charm ! Can you repost it with the pictures?
    Thanks

I also have the same problem you have with jeans. Could you please post a how-to with pictures?

As of today, you can still read the article using the Way Back Machine. Here’s the link: http://web.archive.org/web/20090205174513/http://mysecretpocket.com/2007/11/taking-in-jeans-at-center-back-waist-3.html

Unfortunately, it reads like Greek to me, lol, but hopefully, it helps someone else! Happy sewing!

Monday Musings: My Fabric Stash is Judging Me (A Love-Hate Relationship)

I have a problem. Well, several problems, but today we’re talking about the 37 yards of fabric currently taking up residence in my closet. Some of it’s been there so long it could legally vote. That beautiful linen? Bought for a specific project in 2018. The designer wool? “Too nice to cut.” The rainbow of quilting cotton? Well, it was on sale.

Every time I open that closet, I swear the fabric whispers, “Remember when you were going to make that dress?” The guilt is real. But so is the joy of petting my hoard like a fabric dragon sitting on her treasure.

Last week I tried the KonMari method. I got as far as “does this spark joy?” before buying three more yards of floral voile. Some habits die hard.
