Lisa Calle of Vintage Modern Quilts shares a tutorial at Moda Bake Shop showing how to make a baby’s teething scarf. It’s made like a bib, but with extra fabric built in to create more of a bloused scarf effect. It’s absorbent, made from a layer of soft jersey knit (she repurposed from an old onesie) and a layer of cotton fabric. You could also use terry cloth or a flannel for the lining.
