Mary Beth from RetroMonkeys shares a vintage project at the Pattern Patter blog for making a sewing basket liner. The liner turns a covered basket into a vintage style sewing basket. It has pockets all the way around to organize your notions and a padded backing on the lid that serves as a pincushion, and leaves a large enough space inside to hold a small project. A basket with a cover is fairly easy to find at craft or thrift stores. The pattern will fit a basket that measures 19 1/2″ x 12″ x 12″, but you can easily adapt it to fit a basket of any size. The pattern originally appeared in a 1947 Good Housekeeping Needlework Encyclopedia.
