The benefit of making your pillows with removable covers & inserts is that you can get a whole new look for the pillow by just switching out the cover.  And a zipper makes an neat closure for a removable pillow cover.  Delia from Delia Creates shows two ways you can make a zippered pillow cover.  One way has the zipper hidden in a side seam.  The other has the zipper stitched into the back of the cover.  Her tutorial shows how to make the pillow covers up until the point of zipper insertion, then she links you over to a free Mastering Zipper Techniques class on Craftsy (taught by Sunni Standing) to see how to install the zippers.
