Video tutorial: Installing a separating zipper
The kind of zipper you need for the front of a jacket is different than the standard zippers you use at the back of skirts and dresses. Jackets need separating zippers. Installing a separating zipper is different than installing a standard zipper because the two halves fully separate when unzipped. Professor Pincushion shares a video showing how to do it.
