The Smocking Arts Guild of American (SAGA) shares a free pattern and tutorial over at Sew, Mama, Sew! for making a fancy smocked apron for an 18″ doll.  The tutorial includes how to use a pleating machine to get all those tiny pleats, but if you don’t have access to one you can buy pre-smocked fabric.  Get the pattern and tutorial.

Anne, I just dusted off my 24 year old Pullen Pleater and this will be a great new “first” project. Thanks for the find!
