Mens Button up shirt to halter neck dress Tutorial
Are you ready to turn a thrifted men’s button-up shirt into a trendy and chic gathered top? In this tutorial, I’ll guide you through the simple steps of transforming an oversized shirt into a fashion-forward garment with drawstring features. It’s a fun and straightforward process that’s perfect for sewists of all skill levels, adding another stylish me-made piece to your wardrobe while also giving new life to pre-loved clothing. Full tutorial including a video can be seen here.
Start by choosing an oversized men’s button-up shirt from your local thrift store or your own wardrobe. Look for a shirt with interesting fabric and patterns that you’d like to showcase in your transformed top.

I loved the review for the sewing by hand book. One of my sewing buddies (we have a group called the BBGC, Big Bootie Girls Club) told me about the giveaway. She taught me to hand sew this year and now I love to sew! I am a painter so love doing things with my hands, and the hand sewing is perfect in the evenings when I am watching TV with my family.
I would do these projects (especially the totes to carry paints) at bsllgames, at the beach, while chatting with my friends at parties. My BBGC group is having a hand sewing party once a month now! I AM HOOKED ON HAND SEWING! Go to my website to see my first hand sewn project. It is a hand painted apron, then sewn by hand. Addicted!

I volunteer at the local hospital, where I have already done some hand sewing projects when times are slow. I would love to teach others in the Volunteer/Auxiliary so we could hand out to the patients for the different holidays in the year. Where I volunteer is Women’s Services where labor & delivery, post partum and of course my favorite the nursery are. I can already see “lots” of bibs being made and handed out to the new babies. I have already made somethings to raffle off, where the proceeds went to our scholarship fund. Thanks!
